| About Christina Sohlberg |
I started drawing and painting in my early teens, but during high school and beyond, other interests and studies took over.
But my interest in art was always in my mind and in the end couldn’t be stopped. I learned the technical basics of sketching, watercolor, oil, sculpture and graphic work, and began to create artworks and display them, both separately and jointly, in association with Swedish Artists Association and graphics group VGG, among others.
In addition to painting and sculpture, I was intrigued by the possibilities and unexpected effects of the collage. In graphic work, I have tried most techniques, but in particular my attention was caught by linoleum cutting, with its strong contrasts.
I move mainly around two motifs: figures on the one hand, especially faces, and more or less dream inspired landscapes on the other. Combining the two I see as an interesting endeavour.
I rarely paint reality. Instead I try to find something that fascinates me in the chaos of the canvas or paper, to pick it up and shape it into a composition that "sings".
